Community Class

All Level

Community class is donation based instruction that changes every week based on the instructor and who attends. We want this to be a place that those who are new to, can’t regularly afford, or are regulars of True North Yoga and Wellness come together and enjoy the teachings of yoga and meditation.

Restorative Yoga

All Level

Restorative yoga is the yoga of deep relaxation and renewal. By accepting the support of bolsters, blankets, and blocks, we settle into poses for a longer period of time, allowing the body to come to a place of ease. This practice offers the opportunity to quiet the mind and heal the body, calming nervous system and releasing deeply held tensions from body and mind.

Pranayama and Meditation

All Level

During this class, you will take a step back from everything going on and learn the skills to stay in the present. Through pranayama (breathing) and meditation, you will learn to calm the mind, finding a deeper sense of relaxation and introspection.

Yin Yoga

All Level

Yin yoga is a slower-paced practice, appropriate for new yogis and a beneficial balance for those who already do other forms of yoga. It’s also lovely for athletes-runners, bicyclists, or anyone who tends to hold tightness in the body. The focus is on relaxing the muscles of the body to allow for lengthening and strengthening the connective tissue, resulting in improved flexibility, increased circulation, and a calmer mind. Beginning with gentle warm-up stretches to ease the body into stillness, then moving mindfully into a series of floor poses, always taking the time to find just the right amount of stretch, settle into stillness, stay for awhile (often several minutes), and release with gentleness. Expect to leave feeling deeply relaxed and flexible.

Beginner

Gentle Yoga

Beginner

Designed to help beginners and regulars learn the basics of yoga poses (asanas) and develop good habits around alignment, stretching and movement.

Mindful Flow

Experienced Beginner

Mindful Flow is a gentler vinyasa- style class integrating mindful pranayama, (attention to the breath) in conjunction with slow dynamic, creative and fluid asana (poses) cultivating awareness, insight, and intention. Mindfulness, being present in the moment, facilitates a greater understanding of the mind-body connection. Mindful Flow will enhance your inner & outer strength, sense of self, and well –being. Modifications to asanas using props such as the wall, blocks, straps, bolsters and blankets are encouraged!

Alignment Yoga

Experienced Beginner

A form of Hatha yoga that has an emphasis on precision and alignment, helping to develop strength and stability through the teachings of postures (asanas) and breath (pranayama). This class is great for experienced beginners and advanced alike since the focus is on proper asana alignment.

Intermediate

 Hatha Zen

Intermediate

Beginning and ending with a contemplative meditation, we will bring awareness to our breath and calm tension from the body and mind. We will warm up the body to energize and release and then explore slower and restorative postures to allow our body and mind to release what has been stagnant. Accessible and open to Intermediates and beyond.

Vinyasa Flow

Experienced Intermediate

Vinyasa in Sanskrit is defined as “connection.” Vinyasa yoga has its roots in classical Ashtanga sequence, yet, the asanas (poses) presented in this class organically unfold in a creative, fluid sequence of asanas focusing on the breath and bringing heat to the body, eventually moving towards relaxation and stillness of the body and mind. Cultivating sense of self, you will leave feeling rejuvenated and invigorated! Participants are encouraged to challenge themselves, yet be mindful and honor their physical boundaries.
